Sonograms are frequently used with AudioSculpt. They are a convenient media to visualize the structure of the audio signal, that is, how the energy is distributed in the sound spectrum, according to vibratory frequencies. The type and parameters of the analysis can be modified depending on the physical features of the sound : noisy, percussive, voiced, harmonic... A number of tools are provided with the sonogram to characteristics of the spectrum. Its representation – scale, limits, contrast...– can be modified by the user. We will make a very basic analysis of the monophonic sound we used previously, so that you get familiar with the most frequent manipulations of this analysis tool.
