Sonograms are frequently used with AudioSculpt. They are a convenient media to visualize the structure of the audio signal, that is, how the energy is distributed in the sound spectrum[1], according to vibratory frequencies[2]. The type and parameters of the analysis can be modified depending on the physical features of the sound : noisy, percussive, voiced, harmonic... A number of tools are provided with the sonogram to characteristics of the spectrum. Its representation – scale, limits, contrast...– can be modified by the user. We will make a very basic analysis of the monophonic sound we used previously, so that you get familiar with the most frequent manipulations of this analysis tool.
