Rhythm

Notation

Subdivisions

Rhythm is expressed proportionally by the division of a value into equal smaller values.

  1. Click on a note to select it

  2. Enter the value corresponding to the number of equal subdivisions.

The nonuplet (division in 9) is the smallest possible subdivision of a value.

To cancel the subdivision, select the additional notes and delete them.

Ties and Chords

To tie notes together, select them and press =.

To untie notes, select them and press alt + =

To gather several notes into a chord, select them and press + .

The duration of a chord is equal to the sum of the durations of its notes.

Rests

To convert a note into a rest, select it and press /.

To restore the note or convert rests to notes :

  1. press / : a C4 appears by default

  2. edit the pitch of the note.

To add a measure, press m. The empty measure consists of a whole rest, which can then be edited as described above.

Subdividing Rests

Rests can be subdivided just like notes.

Recording

When recording notes with a MIDI device, the previously edited rhythm is preserved.

Tempo and Time Signature

Tempo

  • double click on it
    • enter a bpm value in the dialogue window

        Tempo and Maquette

The tempo of an object in the maquette area is determined by the size of its box. Thus when the maquette is played, specific tempos are ignored.

        Time Signature

To change the time signature of a sequence Ctrl / right click and choose Time Signature.

Enter a time signature in the dialogue window and press OK.

        Proportions

Rhythmic proportions are adapted to the new time signature.
